A cyclist was killed in Oliver, Wednesday afternoon, after being struck by a vehicle.

Witnesses at the scene describe a newer model, unregistered and uninsured, Chevrolet Impala driven by a 37-year-old Oliver man, heading south on Tucelnuit Drive when, for unknown reasons, it veered right, traveling along the paved shoulder and struck a south bound cyclist.

There are grand benefits to be gained from a GranFondo.

That's what Penticton has discovered after hosting the Valley First GranFondo Axel Merckx Okanagan last weekend.

The Penticton GranFondo attracted over 2,500 riders.

The event attracted more than 2,500 riders who braved the searing South Okanagan heat to ride in the second annual event.

July News Empty Bikes get their own on-street parking

Two parking spaces have been removed from downtown Kelowna and replaced with bicycle racks.

Gio Bean, a popular coffee house, put in a request to the City for extra bike racks outside the business as more and more patrons were opting to peddle on two wheels instead of driving on four when coming for a 'cup of joe.'

July News Empty Cycling continues to grow in the Central Okanagan

The way we get around in the Central Okanagan is evolving as more residents take to the streets on their bicycles. During this year’s Central Okanagan Bike to Work Week more than 3300 cyclists of all ages took to the streets to travel more than 88,000 kilometers in just one week.

July News Empty Great ride for GranFondo

Riders from the Okanagan claimed three of the top four spots during Saturday's RBC GranFondo Kelowna bike race.

765 riders began the ride from Waterfront Park in Kelowna and all but two completed the 122 kilometre course which ventured through Lake Country and Vernon, before turning around and heading back to Waterfront Park.

Earlier this month, more than 2,500 riders braved the searing South Okanagan heat to ride in the second annual Granfondo Axel Merckx Okanagan. Along with their bicycles they brought with them support crews, fans and — most importantly for the local economy — tourist dollars.
