Is there a better route?

You can in the summer. I was up to Chute Lake last weekend and it was open at least to there, did not check if it was plowed any further.

highway 97 doesnt sound very scenic, i'll leave that until I get the road bike out

Summerland to Peachland is the best section of hwy 97. I love that section.

Lost Moose might be a good ride for ya mate. Good 9km of climbing.

A ride out to Naramatta and back is always good . I would always be down for that. Pretty soon I will be doing that ride once aweek- if anyone's interested
