BC Parks Chainsaw bucking and Mtnc. course

As part of the new land use agreement that the South Okanagan Trail Alliance signed with BC Parks this year, we required certified chainsaw operators on hand when working with power-saws within the park boundaries - to cover everyone's butts for insurance...

Parks set up a course for some local and a few Manning Park rangers and invited me along. As it turns out, I learned more new stuff about chainsaws, maintenance and chainsaw use / techniques than I ever dreamed of knowing!

We had an amazingly knowledgeable instructor, a really great crew, a beautiful day in Okanagan Mt. Park and an amazing lunch from The Bench. A neat spinoff from this is that I got to work with the new senior ranger, Wendy Pope; who is new to town, a mountain-biker and an avid trail fan.

This should all bode extremely well with regard to trails and all things related to trails in BC Parks going forward :-)
