Pearly Dedication - Guy Duvent Empty Pearly Dedication - Guy Duvent

Here is a Mice-Related article that I received today from the Penticton Outdoor Club - relating to Guy Duvent, his history as an original Mice trail builder and a club dedication to his memory. A lot of you / us knew him and may be interested in attending:

On Sunday, September 1 (the upcoming long weekend) the family of Guy Du Vent and the Penticton Outdoors Club are installing a sign at the The Pearly Gates trailhead to the Three Blind Mice trails above Naramata. All POC club members are invited to meet at the trailhead at 10:00am for a dedication to Guy and installation of the sign, followed by a short hike to the flats above to enjoy the view. This hike will be led by Guy and Katherine's daughters, Anna and Nicole. Then we will head off to Guy's favourite watering hole, the Opus at the Cannery. Katherine has reserved the alcove area of the Opus for 12:00 noon.
This gives people flexibility about what they want to participate in, and what they have time for.

Many of us knew Guy, but those who joined the club in the last year will not have met him. Guy was a well-liked and dedicated member of the club until his untimely death in a mountain bike accident on the Three Blind Mice trails late last August, 2012. Guy's departure has left a large void in the club and in the minds and hearts of the members who spent time with him.

Here are the directions for The Pearly Gates trailhead (thanks to Nick Pitt):
To reach Riddle Road travel north on Naramata Road until you see Hillside Winery on the right hand side of the road. Riddle Road is next right, just beyond the winery. Riddle Road itself is narrow, climbs steeply, and is easy to miss, so watch out!

Continue one hundred metres or so up Riddle Road to where it crosses the KVR: park vehicles here. (Above the KVR the road has lots of 'No Parking' signs, and local residents like to make a fuss if anyone ignores them.) Parking may be tight so it would be helpful where possible for people to car-pool.

The 'Pearly Gates' meeting place is a further three hundred metres (uphill, on foot) at the end of the paved section of Riddle Road.
