Apex Trail Report (Canada Day)
Terri and I went up to Apex today and drove around to check out the trail conditions. We couldn't see much snow from the old Gunbarrell parking or lower. From the Gunbarrell we drove up the powerline rd. past the ski patrol cabin and turned onto the access rd. that goes to the top of Apex behind grandfathers trail. As soon as we turned onto the access rd. there was snow in the trees. The Good The Bad and The Ugly as well as Prometheus are still covered in a foot of snow in places. Water run off is still in effect. We turned around at prometheus trailhead and carried on to Nickel Plate Lake for an afternoon canoe. We launched our canoe and did some foul weather (rain) training for our upcoming trip to the Bowron Lakes. What a way to spend Canada day. I think it will be a little while before riding at Apex is any good.
