A group of us explored the conditions at Apex Resort this afternoon, hoping to find dry trails and no mosquitoes... with no luck on either accord...

There is an excess of mud on nearly every road and path, though not enough to dampen our spirits, as conditions on-mountain found us in fresh, clean air with good friends and great trails (between the puddles :-)

Here are a few pics of the day and an overview report; Riordan singletrack is snow-packed and impassable, but the service road is ridable if muddy. We did not ride neighboring Apex Resort but since it is higher, in the same immediate vicinity and aspect, expect the same. ClaimJump singletrack 'around' Nickel Plate Lake is open, but sporting several large wet zones and a 'new to me' creek passing through it at one point. The "Three Puddles" near the junction of the Apex Mt. Rd. and the Nickel Plate service road are higher than I've ever seen before.

Overall, the area needs about a week or two of hot weather to dry out enough to start riding the many deep forest trails that we all love so much.

Riding snow in July!
