Wiltse Highland Trail(s)
Thursday and the riding is great!
Gary, Jeremy, Woody, Val and I headed up to Wiltse Highlands after work this afternoon to suss out a 'better' trail system in the area. While its trails are no 'walk in the park', experienced mountain bike riders will love the place!
I've posted a Google Earth track of the route we took in the Mapping section of the site:

The White line represents my regular route and the red line represents Val's alternate – and much easier – route across the west face of the highlands. The Red line to the south of the Terasen gas line is extreme; call it ‘expert only’, while the balance of the northern sections are simply ‘difficult’. Huge thanks to Val Burgart for the tour of his excellent work-around trails! He and his son have created a far more rideable version of the west face route.
Below are a few images from the day:
Regrouping; what a great ride!
Beauty Singletrack! (but ya' really have to "earn it")
The Work Crew
Tree Down? No Worries, bring in da' big guy
Saw in the backpack... a great investment in your trails!
The "Plumbers Crack"
Vista from the Wiltse Highlands
Ya' thats a wheelie while climbing, and with one hand too...
Words don't do it justice...
Val B. Guiding us (around) the nasty 'regular' ascent and onto his alternate route
Wiltse Highlands; Hard work, but worth the effort!
