661 Armor Review Empty 661 Armor Review

Post  Admin Mon Oct 01, 2012 3:15 am

After putting this gear through several months of hard riding i feel that I can recommend it to anyone into 'XC+Freeride' mountain biking without hesitation. Brent T. suggested that I try it out this spring, after watching me leave my heavy Kendo armor at home once too often.

661's product is quite lightweight; as in once you put it on, you practically forget about it. In general, mountain bike armor calls attention to itself on nearly every pedal stroke; not with this kit. The 'Big Deal' with this gear is that contains a synthetic polymer which hardens on impact - ergo; hard-shell protection in a soft-shell kit. Cool.

Its also fairly breathable, even in this climate. On night-rides, it cuts the cool air just enough to keep you comfortable, while reassuring you that wearing armor is a wise choice (it is).

Finally, its small. All four pieces fit together in a Russian Doll format, enabling one to take it along for every ride - which is the most important quality of armor; because (any) armor is better than skin when it comes time to 'meet thy dirt'!
