KVR Surfacing Update
Word in from the Gov' today on the next surfacing project for the KVR rail-trail. The route between Arawana Rd. and the Little Tunnel is to be surfaced ASAP, with bidding for the project opening tomorrow and the project scheduled to be completed before the end of Oct.
That's the good news.
The catch is that there will not be any bollards installed to stop motorized vehicular traffic passing over the new surfacing material - which is not as durable as traditional pavement...
Installation of bollards will not occur until an engineering firm has a look at the Chute Lake Rd. to Little Tunnel side of things and determines whether or not the provincial government will officially recognize that route into the tunnel as a legal / legitimate means of vehicular access. At present, its kind of a Wild West situation, with folks going in from either direction, despite the lack of passing room or parking areas north or south of the tunnel.
