Campbell MT. 4X Track Trail Day

Here is what I have so far for details

- proposed date: Saturday May 23rd (10am-??)
- meet at Smith and CO. at 9:45 or onsite at 10:00
- we have access to CAT and a gas powered tamper
- those volunteering: could you please bring your own shovels, spades, rakes, hand tampers and all other eqipment that you feel is necessary to help with the cleanup

Calling all Riders/Builders!!! Anyone else tired of working in a small group or on your own?
Now is the time to mobilize! There is no reason that we can’t have a freeride scene that rivals Kelownas or Kamloops.

The Campbell Mountain 4X might track may not be at the top of your priority list but here is why it’s been chosen for our first major trail day of the year.

- We’ve been given the go ahead to work up Campbells - we are still working on tenure for areas such as up Carmi
- It gives young guys/girls a place to ride that might not have vehicle access
- It may be a sight for future toonie races
- It is a possible sight for a future skills park/dirt jump park-maintaining the 4X helps that expansion along
- Whistler sized burms and tables! Why start from scratch when we have a sweet spot that is already done and just needs some love

Come and support other local builders and make valuable connections so that we can work together to make Penticton a Freeride Mecca. There will be more trail days to follow and we want to see your face and get your input. Please come out on May 23rd and support the local scene.

Remember: There are strength in numbers!

I've been getting stoked on the idea of a Pump Track up Campbell Mt. as well - immediately adjacent to the 4X track in fact... This would see a downhill, a 4X and a Pump track all within a mile of each other - not to mention all of the great riding in the area in general.

Expanding this spot would be awesome! I have worked a fair amount on pump tracks up at the Whistle. This would be a great spot-lots of clay.

I've been reading the 'Pump Track Nation' book I mentioned earlier - and I see one catch to creating a pump track up there - Water.

As it turns out, a pump track needs lots of water... often. Not only in it's creation, but part and parcel with regular maintenance as well. It looks like Campbell Mt. isn't the best place for a P.T. afterall.

Hello everyone,

Things have gone well in planning for the upcoming trail day:
-it's
hard to gage how much interest but there seems to be a fair amount-i've
got posters at both bike shops and have been advertisng the event in
the schools (thank you for making up the posters Andrew)
-we have prizes donated from both bike shops for the event
-skid steer and gas powered tamper usage have been donated

Things I need help with:
-is there anyone out there with extensive skid steer experience and can help
out saturday? it would be better if i can oversee the whole event and that is tough if i'm in the skid steer the whole time
-we need to cover fuel cost, can that come out of the budget? or any other suggestions to cover it?
-does
anyone have access to large water containers that we can bring to the
sight-it helps with packing the track if we have water
-we need hand tools? even if you cannot be there saturday could you donate the use of your shovels, picaxes, rakes, tampers etc.

Congrats to all involved with the bike to work week event! Seems that everything went great!

Please get back to me sooner rather than later so i can make the necessary arrangements.

A small but dedicated crew came out on Saturday and were able to buff and reshape much of the track!!

Thank you to Solumn Rammed Earth for providing their skid steer for the maintenance, The Bike Barn and Freedom for providing prizes for the event.
