Lower WARD1 Reroute
Received an email from BC Parks officials this weekend, asking about a section of lower WARD1 that they would like closed / rerouted.
As luck would have it, Andrew Dingwall has discovered an excelled little reroute in that very area last summer! Koko, Louise and I went up there between storms this afternoon and raked out the reroute trail, sussed out the nasty section and fed the mosquitoes :-)
Check out the image below to get an idea of the 'new' trail situation. It'd be great if you got used to the new reroute now, as we'll be going back up with some tools and signage to permanently close the section in question later this week.
The 'soon to be closed' section appears as a steep, rocky and eroded pitch near the bottom of WARD1, about 180m after the FSR crossing. You will have previously experienced it as a loose, rocky and eroded section that made you cuss or fear for your life; depending on how fast you hit it!
The 'new' reroute is near the bottom of the first straight section of WARD1 after it crosses the FSR. It's junction appears as a right-hand turnoff. Please get used to using it; not only is the reroute a lot more interesting and fun than the original route, its also soon to be the only option...

Good Job
This is the only way I come down that section. It isn't such a waste of vertical. Thanks for cleaning the section up guys.
