PACA's 7-Summits Road Trip - Aug. 11 & 12th 2012

The 7-Summits Road Trip is less than 2 weeks away!!!

As time has a way of flashing by, we need to start getting some numbers at hand in order to calculate transportation and accommodations for the trip. We've also yet to decide on camping or renting a friend's condo', which is another component of the 'numbers game'.

Right off the top, this is not an easy ride - so if you are reading this as a beginner mountain biker, I'd suggest gaining a lot more riding experience / engaging in a serious 5 week training regime :-) before throwing your hat into the ring.

Keep in mind that the area also hosts several dozen other trails, so if we wanna' make it a real "Epic" road trip, we may wish to consider a low mountain ride on day one and the 7-Summits ride on day 2...

Really, no takers to this absolutely EPIC ride opportunity!?

Come on couch-surfers, get off yer' duff and sign-on to Ride Red! We would like to have no more than 8 or so experienced riders on this trip. I know of three of us who are going to date, leaving five spots open...

You may pencil me in... If we car pool and share some expences I will most likely come. I just have a trip to Whistler the following weekend for some dh, xc and some river paddling on the green\ birkenhead[ that reminds me that I have to still let my boss know]....

Would love 2 go but have to be in Montreal...I'll do seven something elses...

Sounds like a plan. I would prefer camping at Lions Campground again as we did last year. Sites are good, rates are cheap and the showers are clean. Bring on the "Pain Train"!

Ok, I am in for sure... Lets carpool up - and split costs up [ gas, etc......].... Looking forward to see this trail I hear so much about.....

It is hard to imagine snow when it is 28 degrees here in Rossland, however thanks to the hard work of the Kootenay Columbia Trails Society (KCTS) trail crew, the IMBA epic Seven Summits is now open! They had to shovel snow for a bit of the trail- but it is in great shape!

I have a stellar '04 Jamis Dakar for you to use, it should be able to fit you.
It pedals uphill like a dream (I make no claims on descending).
Two fingers is all you need.

I would classify myself as a beginner as i haven't ridden mountain in about 7 years since i left Oz.
When i rode up Campbell three weeks ago with Aart (on a more than half decent bike), i noticed i have lost most of my mountain bike handling skills and would need a few decent rides to get some of the road riding habits out. Sliding the rear wheel out on a Roadie brings about skid marks and not the good kind of skid marks!!
I'll see how i go within the next few weeks.
