Kelowna - Mission Creek Greenway
Visited the Mission Creek Greenway in Kelowna today; wow, what a great family-trail resource!
The route runs from Okanagan Lake, east - southeast to Layer Cake Mt. Along the way, one enjoys a twisty-turning version of the KVR; but with much better surface material. It winds its way through amazing stands of all kinds of trees, sometimes looking like the Okanagan, other times taking on the appearance of a BC Parks brochure from the west coast or the Rockies.
The city has put more than a little effort in providing its citizens with an excellent, creek side trail system. I strongly suggest that everyone reading this should check it out. Begin at Okanagan Lake and ride up to Layer Cake Mt. Check out the cool looking Mt., then return along the path and be impressed with the progress of the Kelowna Bike park; built alongside the trail about three quarters of the way to Layer Cake Mt.
I cannot say enough good things about this trail; it’s a "family oriented" route, thus everyone in the family can enjoy it, and there are a whack of neat sights to see along the way.
Go!

(Footnote; The Penticton Rotary Club, in conjunction with PACA and numerous other local groups, are working toward extending the existing trail systems within the city of Penticton. Main projects include a complete route from the Channel Parkway to the Ellis Creek Canyon, via Ellis Creek as well as addition routes near the college. If you are interested in helping out with this project in any way, please contact PACA via the main website www.bikepenticton.com)
