Campbell Mt. Southern Access - JULY 22nd Update
Attended onsite behind the Penticton water treatment plant this morning with Ian Chapman (City Engineer) and Jacob Belobaba (City Planning Dept.) for a review of the access routes from that location.
The city is going to go at the issue on three fronts:
1) Negotiate with the Pleasant Valley owners for land access once across the proposed footbridge (thus eliminating the need for any stairs)
2) Cost out a reinforced side-slope access trail once across the proposed footbridge
3) Cost out a wooden stairway, once across the proposed footbridge - much like what was done at Fintry; this is the proposal that PACA supports as its a compromise between satisfying hikers and bikers - and both sports are equally cool!
Its gonna' be beautiful; a legacy that will stand well into your children's lifetimes :-)
