Isintok Lake Empty Isintok Lake

Post  Admin Sat Jun 25, 2011 10:56 pm

Louise and I drove up to Isintok Lake this afternoon, which is something that I've been meaning to do for many years. The gravel road to the lake is in great condition as there is a good deal of logging in the area, but apparently not on weekends, as we didn't see any trucks on our way in or out.

There isn't a speck of snow to be seen at lake level, but temps' were exactly 10 degrees below weather in Penticton. A family camped lakeside mentioned that it had lightly sleet/hail/snowed this morning - on the other hand, there wasn't a mosquito in sight :-)

A trail between Apex Resort and Mt.Brent exists, as does another between Mt.Brent and Isintok Lake. From there, trails connect Isintok Lake and Dino's Morel trail network via a series of routes known as the Bushido trails. As such, the area is worth investigating. We're going to go back up later in the summer, do some paddling and hike / bike / dirt-bike around the area...

Isintok is a government campsite

The lake is high; part of the lakeshore access road is flooded at the moment
